I am currently employed as an embedded software developer at
Sustainable Energy Technologies.
In May of 2002 I graduated from the Computer Control Technology
program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
(SAIT). This is a program that combined the core
curriculum of the Computer Technology and Electrical Engineering
Technology programs focusing on embedded software for
microcontrollers. This included a final project required for the
completion of the course. The project involved the development of
software to track a light source in two dimensions.
Since the beginning of August 2002 I have been employed as a software
developer at Sustainable Energy Technologies in Calgary. I have been
involved with the software design of the company's core technology.
The technology consists of various power inverter designs for
converting DC electricity from solar panels, wind turbines and
hydrogen fuel cells into AC electricity that is exported to the
electrical grid.
I have worked extensively with C
and assembly for programming the various DSP/microcontrollers we have
used and Visual Basic, C# and Java for programming user interactive
utilities for communicating with the inverter (TCP/IP, RS-232,
RS-485, CANbus). Recently I have been adapting/upgrading the software
(communication, datalogging) that I originally developed for a
Motorola microcontroller to execute on an ARM Controller. I have also
implemented and maintain a software server (Fedora Linux) for source
code/document control (SVN).
Being one of two developers on the
the product design team has involved me in every aspect of a products
life cycle from proof of concept to field maintenance.
I am always looking for an opportunity in a challenging and
progressive work environment that will provide a platform for which I
can succeed in this ever-changing industry. I enjoy the challenges
presented by learning and designing something new.
